Summer Food 2010

28 Jul

If you live in Los Angeles and are a foodie, then you have probably are familiar with Surfas. They have so much of everything for not only the professional chef, but also the home cook.

But with the dozen different colors of sanding sugar

And the rows of fancy imported salts

I was a bit overwhelmed and hightailed it outta there, uninspired. Sometimes less is more and too much is just too much!

Looking forward to hearing everyone’s Summer Food 2010 episodes next week!

Summer Food 2010 Update

9 Jul

Whoot!  The Meal Makeover Moms podcast is joining us in the Summer Foods 2010 Project and we are happy to have them! And the blogs of food lovers Jacky Hackett and the Upstart Kitchen have been the first to respond that they also will be joining in

Here’s some info on th eMeal Makeover Moms: ”Janice Newell Bissex and Liz Weiss are registered dietitians and The Meal Makeover Moms. As two of the nation’s top experts on family nutrition, they’re on a mission to help busy families eat better.

Their journey began in 2004 with the release of The Moms’ Guide to Meal Makeovers, Improving the Way Your Family Eats, One Meal at a Time. The book highlights their simple food philosophy that kids – even picky ones — will eat nutritious food without complaint as long as it looks and tastes great. To do that, The Moms give family-favorite recipes a healthy makeover by “weaving in” fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy oils and more. Their recipes are easy to make, appeal to kids, and make mealtime less stressful for parents who want their families to eat more than the chicken nuggets and mac & cheese that often end up on the table.”

Looking forward to hearing their take on ‘Summer Food’!

Spread the word!

28 Jun

We’ve heard back from the Musing Mommies podcast, The Because Show and the PFD podcast – and between the three shows there is a huge community of listeners who subscribe for weekly downloads. We are excited to get the ball rolling on the Summer 2010 Podcast Project so start planning your show on ‘Summer Food’. We may push the podcast upload to the first week of August as July is a busy month for all our producers.

In the meantime, pour yourself some iced tea, fire up the grill and think about what your episode will be like!

If you know a blog, site or podcast that would like to participate – feel free to pass along the info (as long as they check back in here so we know they are participating and we can all link to them).

Summer 2010 Podcast Project

14 Jun

We’re inviting you to the Summer 2010 Podcast Project this summer as we ask all shows to record an episode or segment on the topic of ‘Summer Food’.  Summer food favorites? Summer traditions? Summer disasters?: Spin the topic anyway you want, in keeping with the format and tone of your show, just upload it the last week of July. Each show that participates will give a mention with a blog post and a link to the other shows participating.  A no-brainer for not only networking with other podcasters but also expanding your audience, yes?

If you plan on participating, chime in here. If you choose to opt out, no worries, we will still invite you to the next project this fall. Feel free to spread the word with other podcasts that may be interested. Questions? Don’t be afraid to ask. Foodie blogs may participate and link with us in supprt with this Project so it is our goal to have a wide and diverse involvement.  We’ll be contacting larger traditional radio broadcasts such as ‘The Splendid Table’ and ‘Good Food’ to publicize ‘Pass The Podcast, Please’ so they can give a heads up to their listening audience as well. Sound kinda fun? It will be!

This invitation has gone out to the following shows:

  • The Because Show
  • The Becky and Joe Show
  • The Dave and Steve Show
  • Full Time Mom

*We’re not guaranteeing that any or all of these shows and sites will acknowledge or participate, OK? But we will email and invite them to ‘Pass The Podcast Please’ to publicize and link if they want.
